Bio
Dr. Jordan Wessling is a Fellow in Theology at New College Madison and a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research centers on systematic and philosophical theology, with particular expertise in analytic theology, the doctrine of God, divine action, and human responsibility. His teaching draws on these interests to engage students in rigorous and thoughtful reflection on perennial questions about God, humanity, and the good life.
Dr. Wessling is the author of Love Divine: A Systematic Account of God's Love for Humanity (Oxford University Press, 2020) and a co-author of Divine Motivation and Humanity (Cambridge University Press, 2025) and The Nature and Promise of Analytic Theology (Brill, 2019). He has also edited or co-edited three books: Analyzing Prayer: Theological and Philosophical Essays (Oxford University Press, 2022), Love, Divine and Human (T&T Clark, 2019), and the forthcoming The Faith Once Delivered: Five Views (Cascade, in press). His peer-reviewed articles have appeared in journals such as Faith and Philosophy, Religious Studies, International Journal of Systematic Theology, and Zygon.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Wessling serves as book review editor for the Journal of Analytic Theology and as a series editor for Routledge Studies in Analytic and Systematic Theology. He lives in Madison with his wife, Amber, and their three energetic boys, Malcolm, Theodore, and Ronan.
