Sam Thompson is a Lumen Center Intern at Upper House and a History major at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In his role, Sam supports the team through administration and takes part in the intellectual conversations and prayer that shape the life of the Lumen Center.

Sam’s experience working as a custodian at his church since high school gave him an early opportunity to serve his community. He brings leadership skills, a deep joy in being a child of God, and a love for working with people to his role at Upper House.

With a goal of pursuing pastoral ministry, Sam was drawn to the internship as an opportunity to grow in knowledge and experience. As someone who loves learning and reading, he was especially excited about the opportunity to work with the Lumen Center. Having benefitted from Upper House programs and space over the past year, Sam is excited to now help serve the broader UW–Madison community through SLBF.

Outside of school and work, Sam loves spending time outdoors, especially camping, hiking, and canoeing. He also enjoys a good book, music, and food. Through his involvement with Badger Cru and his church, Door Creek Northside, Sam has found beautiful family and community.
